Cartonnage Large Notebook Cover

A little history on Cartonnage...it is lovely handmade art, originating in

France around 1844 using fabric or paper, with no sewing involved.  It has

had a resurgence in the past few years around the world, with new

techniques, incorporated into boxes, notepad covers, books and more.  With

this resurgence comes different ways and techniques of making boxes.  My

favorite is the Brazilian Way, with Claudia Squio, owner and teacher of

Colorway Arts.

Come join the fun bringing a rotary cutter, a small cutting mat if you have

one, two coordinating pieces of fabric. To start out choose fabrics that are

tonal in nature, light to medium colors. To be safe I would bring three fat

quarters.  Stay away from dark colors or solids  to begin with until you

get a hand at working with glue and fabric.  Believe me it won't take long

to get that feel.  (My experience Kona Cotton is NOT a good choice.)

Student's will go home with a completed piece at the end of day.

Provided in class will be all the supplies that you need glue, waste paper,
