Beginning Wool Applique - sample is hanging in the shop

In this class you will learn the basic techniques to achieve beautiful wool applique. We will explore different methods of adhering the wool to the background, how to use the perle cotton thread and adding surface embroidery to achieve dimension and interest. I like to use hand dyed wool so the variegation in color adds shading to the elements in the design. You can use your block in a quilt or make it into an 18" pillow, directions for both will be given. We will break for lunch if you would like to bring a lunch or order something that's fine. 

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: A basic knowledge of hand embroidery stitches is helpful but not required.
Requirements: A kit will be offered of the wovens, hand dyed wool and valdani threads 3 fat quarters of Diamond woven fabric dark orange wool 10" x 11" light orange wool 8 1/2" x 9 1/2" green wool 7" x 8" black wool 5 1/2" x 6 1/2" tan wool 5" x 8" Valdani perle 8 or 12 - we will discuss each in class so you can purchase it then or bring your own colors - O244, P6, P11, O563, O560 You will also need glue stick pins paper scissors regular scissors 22 and 24 chenille needles basic sewing supplies
