Sundrops and Starflowers is designed with the cozy, scrappy look that defines Kim Diehl’s patterns for Henry Glass & Co. Instructor Kari Hawkins will lead us through the steps to make our own Sundrops and Starflowers quilt using the rich hues of Kim’s Quiet Grace fabric line or fabrics of your own choice. Quilt size is 66.5 inch by 66.5 inch.

Instructor: Kari Hawkins
Instructor Bio: 256-508-9409 Kari Hawkins is a local quilt artist and writer. Sewing since a teenager, she began quilting 35 years ago. Her mother-in-law was a life-long quilter and charter member of Heritage Quilters of Huntsville. Over the years, Kari has served in various volunteer positions with HQH, including president, vice president and quilt show chair. She has won numerous quilting awards in HQH quilt shows and has had her quilts juried in both the American Quilter?s Society quilt contest in Paducah, Kentucky, and International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. In addition, Kari coordinates a 55-member quilting group that meets monthly. Professionally, Kari retired in 2023 from a 40-year career in journalism and public affairs, ending her career as a public affairs specialist for the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal. Her husband is a NASA computer scientist contractor. They have a daughter who is a writer living in Houston with her husband, a son who is a Huntsville Police Officer and a dog named Penny. Kari and her husband are active members of Epworth United Methodist Church, where they both sing in the choir.
