Collage this applique "Sewing Scissors" pattern by Laura Heine. We will specifically be working on "Sewing Scissors", but you can come with any Laura Heine pattern, the technique is the same. Class will cover the Laura Heine method of collaging, how to create movement, and fabric selection. There will be several other collages on display. There is homework in this class. See below in Additional Class Description for homework. Note: If pattern states to trace onto pattern ease, delete this step as Laura Heine no longer recommends tracing on pattern ease.

HOMEWORK: Watch this video Laura Heine Demonstrates Preparing Fabric for Collage Quilts - YouTube and adhere Steam-a-Seam 2 to the back of all your fabrics. Don't forget to bring all the pieces to your collage.

• General Sewing Supplies: Rotary cutter with new blade, small cutting mat (a rotating mat if you have one), ruler (12" or longer), scissors for cutting paper, and personal sewing items.. Optional - a small travel iron and ironing mat. You do not need to bring a sewing machine to class; you will quilt and bind your collage at home. 
• Laura Heine Pineapple Collage pattern or other pattern
• fabric (6 kits available at the store)
• silicone mat 12" x 18" or larger
• Pattern Ease
• Steam-A-Seam 2
• #2 Pencil or SewLine Trio Marking Pencil
• tweezers
• sharp scissors (I highly suggest a pair of Karen K. Buckley Perfect Scissors (medium or small), and a
• lightbox
• Rotary cutter with new blade and scissors for cutting paper. Refer to the back of pattern for specific requirements for fabric yardage and other specific supplies for your pattern. You do not need to bring a sewing machine to class; you will quilt and bind your collage at home.
