Kids Basic Quilt Camp
Kids Quilt Camp is for girls and boys ages 7-14. You will learn how to put color combinations together, cut fabric with rulers, follow pattern instructions, also piece a quilt top. You will have fun putting together a cute and simple quilt top that will highlight your child's style and skill!
Supply List
1.) Sewing machine in good working order - one per student please. no sharing NO TOY SEWING MACHINES
(PLEASE make sure sewing machine is in good working order. Only top loading bobbins that use a class 15 bobbin. NO METAL BOBBINS)
2.) Sewing machine needles
3.) Extra bobbins (specifically class 15 top loading bobbins)
4.) Seam Ripper
5.) Straight pins
6.) Pin Cushion
7.) Thread for your machine
Provided Supplies
1.) The required fabric amount will be chosen by the enrolled child, and covered by Southern Charm Quilting
You will need 1/3 yard of 6 different fabrics. We will be choosing fabrics together on our first day of class
2.) You will be given a pattern
Curriculum
In class we will go over:
1.) The basics of your sewing machine
2.) Sewing a straight line
3.) Pressing (ironing)
4.) Cutting their fabric into strips of varying sizes
5.) Sewing the strips together to make a quilt top
6.) Pressing the seams of your quilt top and ironing the strip before assembly
7.) A class picture at the very end of the class
