Urban Owls

This whimsical quilt will let your creativity shine! Bold prints and unique blocks combined with various quilting techniques make this one-of-a-kind quilt a perfect choice for showcasing your expanding sewing skills and quilting talent. The quilt is based on the pattern Urban Owls by popular designer Wendy Williams.
The Urban Owls pattern offers quilters of all skill levels the opportunity to sharpen quilting skills. The pattern combines machine piecing, machine applique, hand applique and foundation piecing along with other techniques to create this unique quilt. At the end of five classes, students will have a quilt top that is sure to impress family and friends! The finished quilt measures 66" x 80", making it the perfect size for a lap quilt or wall hanging.

| Instructor Bio: | karihawk@knology.net 256-508-9409 Kari Hawkins is a local quilt artist and writer. Sewing since a teenager, she began quilting 35 years ago. Her mother-in-law was a life-long quilter and charter member of Heritage Quilters of Huntsville. Over the years, Kari has served in various volunteer positions with HQH, including president, vice president and quilt show chair. She has won numerous quilting awards in HQH quilt shows and has had her quilts juried in both the American Quilter?s Society quilt contest in Paducah, Kentucky, and International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. In addition, Kari coordinates a 55-member quilting group that meets monthly. Professionally, Kari retired in 2023 from a 40-year career in journalism and public affairs, ending her career as a public affairs specialist for the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal. Her husband is a NASA computer scientist contractor. They have a daughter who is a writer living in Houston with her husband, a son who is a Huntsville Police Officer and a dog named Penny. Kari and her husband are active members of Epworth United Methodist Church, where they both sing in the choir. |
