Vicki McCarty Liberty Stitches Retreat
Join us for a super fun 4 day wool retreat taught by Vicki McCarty! This exclusive event will be held in the classroom at Southern Charm Quilting. On the class you will be starting Calico Patch's Liberty Stitches Block of the Month project. There you will receive instruction from Vicki herself on stitches and wool application techniques. You will have the chance to complete 2 blocks a day. Vicki will be at the store teaching from 10:00am to 3:30pm, and the classroom will be open for continued handwork till 5pm. Lunch will be provided all four days. There is a thread kit available for purchase for $61 and the option to opt into the rest of the Block of the Month after the class is complete.
Required Supplies:
- Chenille 22 needles
- Thread scissors
- Thread (if you are not purchasing the optional thread kit with us)
- Notebook or something to take notes with (optional)
- 2 or more yards of Steam-n-seam lite (carried in store)
- Karen K Buckley blue scissors
- Writing utensil for tracing
- Light box (optional)
- Mini iron and wool pressing mat (optional)
- Small cutting mat
- Rotary cutter

Liberty Stitches is a 4 day retreat where we will start a 52 Week Mystery Stitch a-long honoring our nation's history through meaningful motifs, classic Americana, and heirloom style hand stitching.

| Instructor Bio: | Vicki learned to quilt from her grandmother over 50 years ago in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. In 1998, she began teaching quilting classes for Community Education and grew a small quilting community in Eastern Kentucky. We opened Calico Patch in 2003 and grew to include over 4000 bolts of high quality designer fabrics, along with a wide assortment of patterns, quilt kits, sewing notions, and quilting supplies. Vicki continued to teach sewing, quilting and embroidery as well as designing quilts for classes, shop hops and retreats. In 2015 Vicki's original designs gained national attention and she decided to create Calico Patch Designs. She has since lectured and taught at quilt shows and guilds across the country. |
